Adani Krishnapatnam Port sets new record with highest-ever coal loading of 12.95 million tonnes
Adani Krishnapatnam Port Pvt Siding Ltd, located in the South Central Railway zone’s Vijayawada Division, has achieved a significant milestone by logging a record-high coal loading of 12.95 million tonnes in the fiscal year 2022-23. This achievement has surpassed the previous record of 12.94 million tonnes achieved in 2014-15, according to an official statement on Sunday. Coal loading accounted for 75% of the total loading and revenue, with the port loaded 17.40 million tonnes of commodities in the current year. Adani Krishnapatnam Port has been a crucial contributor to the railway division, generating substantial revenue and increasing freight loading.
The port’s freight revenue also rose to Rs 1,940 crore, up 110% from the previous year’s revenue of Rs 924 crore, and is expected to cross the Rs 2,000 crore mark by the end of the fiscal year 2022-23. The officials also reported that the port operated 4,575 rakes in the current fiscal year compared to 2,449 rakes in the previous year, indicating an upward trend in the freight loading sector. The growth in freight loading is not just limited to coal, with other commodities such as limestone, fertilizers, and other products also experiencing higher loading levels.
